A Montreal Gazette report says 22-year-old Yanni “Y4nnOXX” Ouahioune, the person chargeable for a 2020 swatting that pressured the evacuation of Ubisoft Montreal, has been given a three-year neighborhood sentence—a non-custodial sentence that enables folks convicted of some non-violent crimes to serve their time outdoors of jail—by a courtroom in France.
The incident occurred in November 2020, after a false report was made to police of a “hostage scenario” at Ubisoft Montreal led to a serious, day-long police operation. Finally, no hostages had been discovered, and fortuitously nobody was injured; after it was decided that the decision was false, Montreal Police stated it might launch an investigation to “make clear the decision.”
