Luckily for all of us, Marvel’s Secret Invasion has lastly wrapped after six episodes. There’s a whole lot of grumbling among the many MCU fanbase at the moment about this collection, and deservedly so–this collection was utterly incoherent, and as has been the case so typically within the MCU since Avengers: Endgame, it is exhausting to inform if there was any level in watching it.
Warning: This text incorporates main spoilers concerning the finale episode of Marvel’s Secret Invasion.
Not too long ago, Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned the MCU is having a little bit of a downturn as a result of all these films and TV reveals “diluted focus and a focus.” Whereas that’s true, the true rot is deeper: Virtually each MCU present and film since Endgame has felt prefer it had its a part of the MCU’s general plot eliminated throughout post-production, and the result’s a franchise with no story that anyone can see.
Secret Invasion is likely to be the only most egregious instance of this but. This collection informed us that Nick Fury had been utilizing the shapeshifting Skrulls to do all types of clandestine missions because the Nineteen Nineties, and but it could not handle to retroactively place them in any previous film. Secret Invasion ends with a cliffhanger that may by no means be addressed, and we realized nothing new about Nick Fury besides that he has a secret Skrull wife–Fury actually did not be taught any classes or change in any manner, and he wasn’t developed as a personality any additional than he had been in films.
So what is going on on right here? I do not know, and like a lot of you I ended up with much more questions than solutions from the Secret Invasion finale. So let’s get to asking.
